Vacant Home Staging

There have long been several misconceptions about staging properties when selling. The two biggest mistakes are that an empty room will appear larger and therefore sell a house faster and that staging is only filling a room with furniture and accessories.

Both of these statements are simply untrue.

Staging accomplishes several things.  One of the important accomplishments of staging a vacant home is providing design solutions, particularly for those awkwardly configured spaces. Even more important is that when executed correctly, staging creates opportunities for potential buyers to create emotional connections and there fore make offers. Statistics over the last ten years prove this  as time and time again that homes that are staged sell faster and for more money than those homes that were not staged or left vacant.

This past spring, One Pretty House Interiors designed several vacant properties which received viable full or above list price list price offers within a few days of staging. Some of which had been on the market for several weeks with no interest.

Take a look at some the projects we completed this spring:

Friday Faves

Truthfully, I love to be in Georgetown (is that officially a city?), New York and Paris almost ANY time of year.

Somehow the fall seems like THE perfect time to revisit these three old friends. They are canvases of texture, color and warmth from which I take inspiration.

A New Showroom, A New Beginning!

 They did it!
Instead of moving into the new Design Center building on 14th Street, NW, Farrow&Ball has come to the neighborhood and opened a beautiful store in Chevy Chase DC.

Last week we celebrated with them for their grand opening party and welcomed them to the neighborhood and what a time it was. Literally wall to wall paints, wall covering and guests!

Come by the store if you are able to, it's really beautiful (I swear I am not getting paid for this!)
and let me just tell you.
WALLPAPER IS BACK
and it's NOT your mother's florals from the 80's.

Happy ME!

Friday Faves

Although Fall does not officially begin until the 22nd, the cooler temperatures has the leaves in DC already starting to change and brings my focus indoors.  My pared down home is slowly layered with light cotton throws and gold tones are softly added for warmth.
