Starting from Scratch? Start with the RUG!

Have you ever walked into a completely empty room and thought, where do I begin? 

Some will tell you to start at the top (windows) and work your way down. Others will tell you to start at the bottom (floors) and work your way up. Some anxious home owners will begin with what they feel is the most functional, ie sofas, upholstered chairs etc. and then end up with a mishmash of pieces that are extremely difficult to pull together later. 

When starting with an empty space, the best approach is to always start with the rug. ALWAYS. 

And this is why.
