Every once in a while a favorite client becomes like family. This is certainly the case with a client I helped settle into their new home in Stanford, California last month. I'd met them in 2011 to stage their home to sell in Maryland, and was delighted when a few months later they asked if I would help them design the new house in Pennsylvania. It's still one of my favorite projects.
They had planned on staying in this home for quite some time, so it was a surprise to everyone when an opportunity presented itself and this fabulous young family was moving out west to sunny Northern California. And even a greater surprise when they telephoned to ask if I would help them with the new house!
This California one level was very different in both layout and square footage then the classic Pennsylvania three level they'd just sold. Each day brought lots of design challenges that had to be solved quickly. But in six days, with packing paper flying and and tools abounding, we unpacked, placed furniture and hung art so this family could feel right at home
